McDonald Students Sign with United Land Singers Tonight at the Max Fischer Building

18 students and Mrs. Duncanson spent the day at a workshop with the United Land Singers and Detroit Children’s Choir Director. At the end of the day they put on a concert for their families. Our students did a fantastic job! I was a very proud Principal in the audience tonight.

Four students from Ms. Ford’s class came down to my office to share their landform projects where they created mountains, rivers, plains and valleys at home and then shared them with their classmates.  All the second graders at McDonald are working hard to meet their goal in all subject areas.

McDonald Pre-K Receive “Learning Backpacks” from Grant

A year ago Mrs. Roe our Pre-K teacher at McDonald wrote a grant to The Dearborn Educator Foundation for “Educational Learning Backpacks” for our preschoolers. There are sixteen backpacks altogether, eight math and eight literacy themed backpacks.

Parents and families in her classroom will be able to check out the backpacks like going to a library. Hopefully by the end of the school year the backpacks will have rotated through all of her students. Each backpack has directions in English and Arabic so I can empower my families to work with their child at home. The parents will use these materials with all of their children kind of like a game night at the family dinner table.

Below is a picture of Mrs. Roe’s class with their new “Educational Backpacks”. Mrs. Roe’s grant is starting making a difference! We are so proud of all that is happening in this classroom and with our Pre-K families.
